I love my Yoga Practice, and chanting OM sure feels good!
According to wiki, "The three phonetic components of
Om (pronounced AUM) correspond to the three stages of cosmic creation, and when it is read or said, it celebrates the creative powers of the universe.
In Hinduism, Om is one of the most important spiritual symbols.
It refers to Atman (soul, self within) and Brahman (ultimate reality, entirety of the universe, truth, divine, supreme spirit, cosmic principles, knowledge)"
Wow!
Sounds like a very powerful practice, well worth doing!
For me, I love to draw this symbol too... And its easy with a little practice.

Here is a lovely poster I made with descibe each of the spiritual aspects of OM

Now... Lets draw OM

You will need
  • Paper
  • Pencil (once you get the rhythm of drawing this I would highly recommend a calligraphy pen!)

Following the steps below you will be drawing Om in no time.
This is a lovely addition to your daily wellness/yoga/meditation practice.

Watercolour Feather Tutorial - Part 2

14/1/2018

The final Feather of our three in this series.
Remember how we started?
(check out the previous Tutorial)
Sketch a light outline of a feather. I prefer to use a watercolour pencil.
Fill the feather shaped space you have drawn with water.
For this design you will need
  • Watercolour Paper
  • Watercolour Paints
  • Watercolour Brush (I like size 8 round)
  • Pencil or Watercolour Pencil
  • White Gel Pen or Paint Pen
Picture
For this one I have chosen a warm blue/purple palette.
Fill the area with your chosen colours.
Just drop them in and allow them to mingle.
You may need to spread the colour to to edges, but try not to over work the paint. If you do you will loose the lovely variations and gradual change of colour, leaving you with just one even hue.

Next, while it is still wet (but not shiny) gently add a small amount of a darker blue along one side in small triangle shapes to create the effect you can see in the image (left)
Again, don't overwork it.
Just allow the blending to happen naturally, so as you have a smooth transition of colour.

Leave this to dry.

To finished off the details for this feather, using your white pen first draw in the center vein.
Then get dotty!
Remember to add variation to the sizes of your dots, this creates visual interest.

I love to incorporate dots into lots of my different designs. They really add a great visual energy!

To finish these of I trim the feather shape leaving 5mm of white paper around them.
Then I individually laminate them.
And your done!
I hope you had fun!

Go ahead and try different colours.
I love doing the rainbow.
Try combining the different techniques from these tutorials for so many unique and interesting designs.
